A 20-minute long Hansel and Gretel listening introduction to the opera for children as a narrator introduces each of the beautiful selections. The CD is great for schools to have, as an arts activity in it's own right, to experience the arts and this opera, It can be circulated to all classes during the weeks prior to the opera assembly coming to your school. Very effective when used along with the activities suggested in the GGO Teachers' Study Guide pamphlet, to Hansel and Gretel.
Act I: The Broommaker's Cottage
Hansel and Gretel singing and dancing at home (sung in German), In the Forest, (sung in English), The Evening Prayer, Guardian Angels ballet music.
Act II: The Witch's House
The children come upon the candy house, meet up with the cackling Witch, and save the whole town!
