Megan Stetson will perform the role of Hansel in Golden Gate Opera's production and outreach performances of Hansel and Gretel. She has been an active performer in the bay area, both as a recitalist and opera singer for the past six years. Megan's professional operatic credits include Kate Pinkerton in Martinez Opera's production of Madama Butterfly; the title role in Bizet's Carmen with Bay View Music Festival in Traverse Bay, Michigan; Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Oakland Metro Opera House with Bay Area Bach Ensemble; the title role in Offenbach's La Belle Helene;  Mercedes in /u>Carmen; Staruszka in a new English translation of Moniuszko's The Haunted Manor; Bianca in La Rondine; Metella in /u>La Vie Parisienne; and Flora in La Traviata with Pocket Opera in San Francisco. This September Megan made her debut with Opera San Jose as Princess Betsy in the West Coast premiere of Anna Karenina by American composer, David Carlson. Other roles include Venus in Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld, and Ottavia in Monteverdi's L'Incoronazione di Poppea. Megan was a featured soloist during the Yehudi Menuhin Festival in San Franicsco, performing the world premiere of Three Songs for Mezzo-soprano and Piano by internationally acclaimed composer and pianist, Emile Naoumoff. This past spring, Megan was the alto soloist for Beethoven's Mass in C with the Stanford University Symphonic Orchestra and Chorus as well as the mezzo-soprano soloist singing the Pie Jesu movement of Maurice Durufle's Requiem with the International Orange Chorale of San Francisco. In addition to singing, this season Megan served as the choreographer for La Vie Parisienne and La Traviata with Pocket Opera in San Francisco.

An Ann Arbor, Michigan native, Megan received her B.M. from Northwestern University  in Evanston, Illinois. After a brief time exploring other creative interests, including the creation of a handmade fingerless glove business (threadsbycho-cho.com), Megan returned to school and received a M.M. in Classical Voice from San Francisco State University. This December Megan will appear as Lady Bracebridge, singing and dancing in the Bracebridge dinner show at Yosemite's National Park's elegant Ahwahnee Hotel.
