Alexandra Sessler is a winner in GGO’s Emerging Artist Program and is known to Marin audiences for her performances in the role of The Dew Fairy in Golden Gate Opera’s 2010 and 2011 productions of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel. Alexandra is a Professional member of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus. In spring 2011 she appeared as Soprano Soloist in Orf’s Carmina Burana as well as Soprano Soloist in Mozart's Requiem with San Francisco State University and in fall 2010 as the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. Ms. Sessler has been featured soloist with the Miami Bach Society and Miami Oratorio Society. Ms. Sessler performed the role of The Aunt in Madama Butterfly with Golden Gate Opera as well as Despina in Mozart’s Cosi fan Tutte with San Francisco State University's Opera-Theatre program, where she is currently an Associate Teacher as well as finishing her Masters in Classical Vocal Performance. Alexandra maintainsa private studio in South San Francisco and is a Cantor at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in San Francisco’s Castro district. In Italy in 2009 with La Scuola Italia Young Artist Program she performed in as Adina in L’elisir d’amore, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Nannetta in Falstaff, and Violetta in La Traviata. With Frost Opera Theatre in 2007-2008 she performed Bastienne in Mozart's Bastien and Bastienne, Juju in The Merry Widow, as Monica in The Medium, and Mrs. Ford in The Merry Wives of Windsor. She also performed with Intermezzo Young Artist Program in 2006 as La Bergere and La Chouette in Ravel's L'Enfant et Les Sortileges. Ms. Sessler's awards include 1st Place Winner in the Leopoldskrom Vocal Competition, Salzburg, Austria; 1st Place Voice Merit Award, Miami Teachers Association; Outstanding Graduate of The University of Miami Vocal Performance Department; Bertha Foster Scholarship; L. Austin Weeks Scholarship. This is her fourth appearance with Golden Gate Opera. Ms. Sessler thanks her partner and their two very supportive cats.
