Limuel Forgey debuts in the role of Sharpless in Puccini's Madama Butterfly with Golden Gate Opera in April 2010 at Marin Center's Showcase Theatre, and will perform that role with California Opera Association in Fresno in July of 2010. Mr.Forgy has been mentored by Patrice Munsel, Met opera legend and is at home in leading and supporting roles in operas as well as large cast musicals. Among Mr. Forgey's 2007-9 achievements are engagements as guest artist and soloist in the Central Valley with Kings County Symphony and the Tulare County Symphony. Mr. Forgey has been recently featured in the Faurè Requium, the Buxtehude Magnificat, Carmina Burana by Orff, Ein Deutches Requium by Brahms, Lieder eines Farenden Gesellen by Mahler. His stage performances include roles with Opera Bravissimi, Visalia in Crime and Punishment- the Opera, dèbuting the role of Porfiry Petrovitch, as well as performing the role of Roger Chillingworth in the world première of the operatic adaptation Scarlet Letter by American composer Jon Rainbow. Mr. Forgey is the artistic director of the League of Actors in Visalia, CA. He has recently performed the role of Melchior in Amahl and the Night Visitors by Menotti with both the California Opera Association and Bravissimi Opera; with Crimson Opera the role of Peter-the-Father in Hansel and Gretel by Humperdinck and Bob in The Old Maid and the Thief by Menotti; With North Georgia Players he performed the role of Ko-Ko in The Mikado by Sullivan; with Washington State University in Mozart operas, Le Nozze di Figaro (Figaro), The Magic Flute (Papageno) and Pyramis and Thisbe by Daniel Shreve. He performed the role of El Gallo in The Fantastics by Schmidt at Rivers Edge Theatre, WA. Mr. Forgey received his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at Washington State University in 1994, and Master of Music Voice Graduate Studies University of Washington 1995-1997. The talented baritone is currently a student of the incomparable, international opera star Edna Garabedian. Other notable instructors include Leon Lishner, Abraham Kaplan, Paul Lkemme and Barbara Harbach. |
